Engage in a memorable week with friends.

Camp Overview

July 15-19, 2024

Ready For A Journey?

Week in the Forest is a program designed for teens and adults with developmental disabilities to experience the glory of God’s creation by being immersed in nature and surrounded by loving people. Set in Robin Hood’s Sherwood Forest, our campers get a close glimpse of the natural world and an opportunity to participate in the joys of camping.

We tailor our activities to the needs and individual abilities of our guests so that every camper has an opportunity to participate in the magic.

Registration opens January 1st!

Hightlights of Week In The Forest

Sherwood Forest

Campers get to experience the magic of our Robin Hood themed forest, as well as the majesty of giant sequoias and towering pines.

Lifelong Friendships

Community and friendship is a huge part of Week In The Forest- many of our campers walk away with friendships for a lifetime!

Inclusive Activities

Campers experience lots of fun activities catered to their individual needs, such as swimming and boating, a talent show, a dance, a hayride, and a special adventure day at Sugar Pine Railroad.

What To Expect

Week in the Forest is a program for teens (16+) and adults with developmental disabilities.

Campers arrive Monday afternoon and leave Friday.

We provide 12 quality meals in Sherwood Forest, where some breakfasts and dinners are cooked over a fire and are camp favorites! We can accommodate most dietary restrictions and try our best to offer quality substitutes.

Campers stay in gender specific Sherwood huts with at least two cabin leaders 18+ years old per cabin.

Campers have morning learning time, as well as Campfire every evening.

Camper can pick from a range of supervised activities in Sherwood during free time, as well as pool and boats time at Crestview and day trip to the Sugar Pine Railroad. Campers can visit the Sherwood Store and may deposit cash to create a store account at check in. Please note that we cannot keep credit cards on file for store accounts.

We have a medical team that assists on site 24 hours/day, as well as 12 hour/day services in Oakhurst. Please note that the camper’s family insurance plan is the primary source of coverage while attending Calvin Crest.

Registration and final payments will be due three weeks prior to the camp start date. A $75 non-refundable deposit is required with registration per camper. All non-refundable deposits are applied toward the total tuition due. Refunds are not guaranteed for cancellations made within two weeks of the camp start date. Campership applications are available below.

Week In The Forest Leader

Sarah Friesen

Week in the Forest will be led by Sarah Friesen, a lifelong Calvin Crest camper, staffer, and now board chair. Sarah has been a lead counselor, activities director and cabin leader in Week in the Forest, and it is one of her favorite Calvin Crest programs. She holds a California teaching credential and a masters degree in Leadership and Organizational Development. She will partner with our amazing medical team led by Edwin Feliciano & Suzanne Grimmesey to provide a fun and safe week of activities for our amazing campers!

2024 Pricing Tiers

Realizing that families have different abilities to pay, Calvin Crest offers a Three Tier Pricing Program. Individuals who donate to Calvin Crest’s Campership fund make this program possible.

All card transactions will have an added fee of 2.5%. We strongly encourage selecting the ACH payment option when making any payments, which does not add any additional costs to customers.

Tier I - $840

This tier most accurately accounts for the true costs of running summer camp sustainably.

Tier II - $760

This is our partially subsidized fee for those who can pay an amount closer to the true cost of camp.

Tier III - $675

This is our historically subsidized rate and only covers a portion of our costs.

More About Tiered Pricing

You may choose the tier that is most suitable for your family. This is an honor system; you tell us what is affordable for your family. All campers receive the same exact Calvin Crest experience no matter what they choose. For those families that cannot afford Tier 3, additional financial assistance is available through camperships to ensure that all campers have the wonderful opportunity to attend camp. If you feel the financial burden of sending multiple campers to camp or signing up for multiple sessions, you're welcome to use the tiered system to subsidize your overall costs.

Camp Scholarships

Thanks to generous donations from Calvin Crest donors, we are able to offer partial scholarships, or “Camperships,” to those who would otherwise not be able to attend camp. 100% Camperships are not available, but we do encourage you to partner with your local church if you require additional assistance.

Please note, if a camper is attending multiple camp sessions, a Campership can be applied to only one camp session. In 2022, we awarded 91 Camperships totaling $22,661! Don't miss out. Fill out the scholarship application online today!
