Highlights of Family Camp

Family Memories

Create new memories together, whether it's adventuring together or discussing spiritual practices as a family.

Adult Breathing Space

We offer three morning sessions for adults to learn and worship together, while kids enjoy their own programming.

Nonstop Silliness

Every evening we have a theme to dress up and be silly as a family, accompanied by fun evening activites.

What to Expect

All ages and families are welcome! You are also invited to participate in Family Camp as an individual.

Campers arrive Sunday afternoon and leave Friday afternoon.

We provide 15 family friendly meals, including a full salad bar and drink options at every meal. We can accommodate most dietary restrictions and try our best to offer quality substitutes.

Options for lodging include Cedar Lodge, Mountain View cabins, and Westview cabins at varied price levels.

We offer three morning Adult Breathing Spaces and kids programming during this time. Every evening we gather for family Campfire, as well as other optional fun activities.

Free time activities are available every afternoon, including the Store and Snack Shack. Families may create family or individual store credit accounts, or pay cash/card.

Announcing Family Camp 2024 Theme Nights!

On theme nights, come to dinner all decked out in costume or just as you are! Some families create their own costumes as crafty projects, others put something together at a thrift store or from what they have at home. Feel free to use one of our suggestions or get creative and make a costume that is a surprising spin-off of the theme title or description. The staff will also dress up, and we’ll have an all-family activity designed to fit the theme of the night!

Monday Theme Night: Sink or Swim?

When it comes down to it, will you sink or swim? Come dressed as your favorite swimmer (Katie Ledecky, an octopus, a humuhumunukunukuapua’a?) or find yourself at the bottom of the sea (an anchor or a rock?). Whether your costume is buoyant or heavy, come ready to survive – we’ll have some fun challenges for you to test your fortitude.

Thursday Theme Night: Olympics!

Citius, altius, fortius – it’s an Olympic year! Listen to John Williams’ “Summon the Heroes” and get inspired, then come dressed as your favorite Olympic sport, the G.O.A.T. Olympian, or the Olympic rings. Represent Team USA with your red, white, and blue, wear the fiery colors of the Olympic flame, or dress as a representative of the I.O.C.. However you’re dressed, we’ll celebrate the love of sport together!

We have an on site nurse, as well as 12 hour/day services in Oakhurst. Please note that the camper’s family insurance plan is the primary source of coverage while attending Calvin Crest.

Registration and final payments will be due two weeks prior to the camp start date. A $75 non-refundable deposit is required with registration per camper. All non-refundable deposits are applied toward the total tuition due. Refunds are not guaranteed for cancellations made within two weeks of the camp start date. Campership applications are available below.

Jason Johnsen & Sam Farinacci

Session 1 Speakers - June 23-28, 2024 "Finding Your Kingdom Family

Jason Johnsen and Samantha (Sam) Farinacci met at California Lutheran University where they became best friends while co-leading a Christian Club. They received degrees in English (Sam) and Communications (Jason). They both went on to Fuller Theological Seminary where they got married, and Sam completed her master’s degree in Theology and Jason in Divinity. Professionally, Jason went from being a Christian Summer Camp Director, to a full-time Youth Pastor, to the Senior Pastor of Oakhurst Lutheran Church, where he currently has been serving for almost 7 years. He loves the outdoors, playing guitar, reading, eating, and laughing. For the past 13 years, Sam has enjoyed working at Oaks Christian Online School where she develops online spiritual formation and Christian education for 6-12th grade students and provides chaplaincy care for the faculty and staff.  Outside of work, Sam is into her pet llamas, hiking, reading, and training for a 6-mile swim in Bass Lake, which she plans to complete at a snail’s pace. Sam and Jason are still best friends.

Craig & Marcy Wright

Session 2 Speakers - June 30-July 5, 2024
"Thriving Through Appreciative Inquiry"

Craig and Marcy’s journey began in 1981 at Bethany Bible College, where their shared calling to ministry blossomed. By July of 1982, they embarked on their marital and ministerial journey, blessed along the way with three boys and three girls. Now empty nesters, they revel in the joy of four grandchildren, enriched by their understanding of family dynamics.

Marcy’s ministry path led her to foreign missions work and Children’s ministry, while Craig has served as a Pastor in various denominations, including the Assemblies of God, the PCUSA, and currently, ECO. Craig presently leads as the pastor of Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Modesto, CA, holding a Doctor of Ministry in Preaching from McCormick Theological Seminary, with a focus on organizational change through “Appreciative Inquiry.”

2024 Family Camp Rates

The cost of Family Camp is the program fees for each person in the family attending, plus one lodging fee for the whole family unit. For example: Family A is bringing 2 adults and 2 children ages 14 and 11. They choose to stay in a Mountain View Cabin. Their cost will be $525 (Mtn View) + $340 (Adult A) + $340 (Adult B) + $290 (14 year old) + $240 (11 year old) = $1735.

All card transactions will have an added fee of 2.5%. We strongly encourage selecting the ACH payment option when making any payments, which does not add any additional costs to customers.

Program Fee: Per Person

Lodging Fee: Per Family

Ages 0-3 = free

Westview = $350

Ages 4-12 = $240

Mountain View = $525

Ages 13-17 = $290

Camp Scholarships

Thanks to generous donations from Calvin Crest donors, we are able to offer partial scholarships, or “Camperships,” to those who would otherwise not be able to attend camp. 100% Camperships are not available, but we do encourage you to partner with your local church if you require additional assistance.

Please note, if a camper is attending multiple camp sessions, a Campership can be applied to only one camp session. In 2022, we awarded 91 Camperships totaling $22,661! Don't miss out. Fill out the scholarship application online today!
