Tiffany Staman

Executive Director

Tiffany was born and raised in Northern Illinois, the youngest of five children. Her spiritual journey began at a very young age, when her mother prayed with her to accept Jesus Christ into her life. At sixteen, she rededicated her life to Christ and felt God undeniably calling her to use her one and only life to serve the Kingdom of God. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Youth Ministry from Judson University (Elgin, IL), and spent the next sixteen years in pastoral ministry as a youth pastor, worship & arts pastor, spiritual formation assistant, and lead pastor of a church plant.

Born from her passion to help people grow, she founded Breathing Space in 2006 with the mission to provide the space and tools for people to listen and respond to God through spiritual retreats and conferences. In 2008, she received a master’s degree in Global Leadership from Fuller Seminary (Pasadena, CA), after which, Tiffany began working in the nonprofit sector, where she began learning the critical skills of fund development and non-profit leadership. After several years in organizations that serve the homeless, she served as the Executive Director of The Pregnancy Care Center of Rockford. In 2018, she achieved the national certification as a Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) and was named as one of Rockford, Illinois’ “Twenty People You Should Know.” She answered the call to be the Executive Director of Calvin Crest at the end of 2018 and started there in January of 2019. She is excited to lead Calvin Crest into a brand new chapter of ministry.

Joel Gist
Director of Programs
Joel first came to Calvin Crest in the late 90's as a CCA (Child Care Assistant) for Family Camp. He remembers the way the staff had a great time while helping to give others an incredible experience. He was later a cabin leader for Outpost and Week in the Forest. Week in the Forest opened his eyes up to the face of Christ in those who are often ignored. In many ways, Calvin Crest has shaped his life immeasurably. To him, there is no better thing at Calvin Crest than a sunset after a snowfall. He enjoys playing and coaching soccer, biking with his family, hiking, playing worship music, listening to or watching baseball, and board games of all kinds.

Danielle Simms
Food Services Associate
In Danielle's journey here at Calvin Crest, there have been unplanned detours into the unfamiliar and scary, and there have been beautiful sunrises that take her breath away and assure her that everything is going to be okay. In each of those moments, no matter how she called out to God, He has met her where she was. She has learned to lean more on Him and rejoice with Him more. Motherhood is her hobby! She is currently in a phase of life where her free time is spent on her kids. It is a small season in the grand scheme of things, but when she does have more free time, she would like to take up wine tasting and traveling.

Garrett has spent the last four years as the Communications Coordinator. He came to Calvin Crest as a completely different person. Even though he knew Jesus was his Lord and Savior, there was something missing. It was through the loving and caring staff that he was shown what true compassion and admonishment meant, and he began to change. His favorite moments at camp are those spent worshipping the Lord at Vespers in the summertime. He has recently picked up filmmaking as a new hobby and is working on a short film titled Enter the Crest with his friends.
