The Executive Task Force

Calvin Crest is prayerfully seeking God’s call for the next Executive Director. As clearly as we have seen God’s hand in preserving Calvin Crest through two fires, we trust that God will provide the man or woman that God has prepared for this next season of leadership. To carry out this discernment process, the Board of Trustees established an Executive Director Task Force made up of three board members, one staff person and one camper/donor/stakeholder. This team has been meeting weekly since November 2017. They are carrying out a process recommended by our consultant, Ed McDowell who is Chair of the board of the Christian Camp and Conference Association(CCCA).

Here is a brief overview of the search process. In December, the Task Force solicited and received survey feedback from 50 staff and interested stakeholders regarding the job priorities for the next Executive Director. From that feedback they developed and presented a job description for approval to the board. Next, they are seeking nominations of candidates from stakeholders and friends of Calvin Crest, seeking recommendations from people through our networked churches, seminaries and related camps, and inviting self referrals through CCCA, denominational listings and our own website.

At Ed’s recommendation, the Task Force is hiring another consultant experienced in Executive Director searches to provide research and assessment expertise.  Finalist candidates will be interviewed by the board, Calvin Crest staff members, and representative stakeholders and constituents.  The Task Force will then prayerfully gather the information from the resumes, references, interviews by various groups and consultant guidance and present a nomination for board approval.

We recognize that our best efforts are only good stewardship of a process that God ultimately controls. We seek to faithfully sow, and water but it is God who brings the harvest. In humility we submit this process to God’s providence. We invite you to join us in prayer as we ask God to call our next Executive Director.
