| Outpost camp is for Junior High schoolers looking for a great camp experience with some ADVENTURE! Outpost is for students who are entering, or just completed, 6th-8th grades. Campers will learn how to: Backpack Rock climb Camp using good leave no trace and outdoor skills Explore God's Creation Our staff will lead small groups, about 20 campers, spending the day learning new skills that will last a lifetime. We provide the equipment and skilled instructors. You bring the sleeping bag and courage to try new things. Calvin Crest practices challenge by choice. All activities are age and skill appropriate for Junior High campers. Campers enjoy really great meals prepared by our staff over campfires or a brick oven. Recreation, worship, Bible study, music and stories around the campfire makes this an experience campers will always remember. Daily activities begin and end at Outpost Camp. Who is the Staff? The Outpost team consists of a Coordinator, Activities Director, two Lead Counselors (male and female), and the "Outpost Cook." Together, this team provides leadership, counsel, teaching, food and fun for Outpost campers in the most rustic area of Calvin Crest. Who are the Counselors? The volunteer counselors are perhaps the most important position we have. They give up a week of their summer to spend all their time with the campers. Throughout each day they build relationships with the kids as they lead morning devotions, go on all the hikes, and play all the exciting games. Our program could not happen without the volunteer counselors. In most cases, counselors are parents or volunteers who have come up with a church. But in some cases, Calvin Crest relies on outside volunteers to fill these positions for the week. |
