| Dear Friends of Calvin Crest, Meaningful mission service requires investment. In 2007, we completed necessary improvements to bathing facilities across the camp. Adding electricity in Sherwood Forest enhanced programming and safety. We also incurred unbudgeted expenses repairing “old-aged” related water and sewer failures, and meeting new building code requirements for the Sherwood projects. We have a $200,000 Credit Line that needs to be paid down. Looking ahead to 2008 we need to raise $25,000 to fund need-based camperships. "Psalm 42" Challenge Grant Through the urging of the Holy Spirit, friends of the ministry have offered a challenge grant, matching donations made in December dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000, to pay down the credit line or fund camperships. Please prayerfully consider this opportunity to double the impact of your charitable contribution! In my first nine months on the job I have had the privilege of meeting with many pastors and congregations throughout our presbyteries, and keenly understand the role a healthy, vibrant, guest-focused camp and conference ministry can provide to enhance the congregations and communities they serve. Partner with the Calvin Crest Board and Staff to provide a top-notch Presbyterian camp and conference center that offers life-changing experiences. Please prayerfully consider these ways of sustaining the mission: 1.) Help fund maintenance, repair and improvements - "Psalm 42" Challenge Grant gifts are matched dollar for dollar! 2.) Help send a kid to camp in 2008 - "Psalm 42" Challenge Grant gifts are matched dollar for dollar! 3.) Pledge $20 per month to support Calvin Crest's Ministry through our "23k" program. We are seeking 3,000 friends to pledge $20 dollars or more per month in support of ongoing ministry. 4.) Keep the mission in your prayers. We need your prayer support as we meet the challenges ahead. As Calvin Crest moves forward the Board and Staff are committed to making the necessary and lasting investments in facilities, infrastructure, programs, services and amenities that are welcoming and enhance all guest's experience. These will be lasting improvements rather than patch and go repairs. We will be implementing a capital fund drive to support these capital improvements. Your help reducing or eliminating our debt allows us to invest in programs and outreach to expand our constituent base. Funds will be used to offer day camp partnerships with congregations and mission partners, add programs, expand outreach to Hispanic and Asian communities and offer camp, conference and retreat opportunities to those in financial need. Improving facilities and grounds, programs, and expanding the constituent base allows Calvin Crest to be a sustaining ministry into the future.
